Get Amber
Latest release: v0.5.8. Packages are built by the release pipeline and checksummed (SHA-256).
macOS, Apple Silicon
Prebuilt darwin-arm64 tarball. Apple Silicon only, Intel macOS builds are no longer distributed.
Homebrew (recommended)
jtrefon/homebrew-amber/amber-agent
brew install jtrefon/homebrew-amber/amber-agent
Installs amber (TUI), amber-cli (headless) and amber-bench (benchmark harness) with no compilation. Because amber ships as a Homebrew formula, there is no Gatekeeper prompt and no Apple Developer certificate needed.
An unrelated project named amber (a Crystal web framework) is in homebrew-core, so always use the full name above, never bare brew install amber.

Prefer to build? See the install guide for prerequisites and build instructions for macOS and Linux.
In the box
The packages install the prebuilt binaries and the runtime data (prompts, command tree, completions) under /usr/share/amber:
- amber: the interactive TUI (ncurses, BitchX-style)
- amber-cli: the headless agent for scripts, cron, CI
- libagent_core.a + libagent_tools.a: the portable agent engine, as static libraries
- include/agent/*: the library headers, for embedding amber in your own C++ project
amber-bench, the benchmark and KPI harness, is a development tool and ships in the source tree: make && ./amber-bench run(hermetic mode needs no model).
CDP browser plugin
Optional Chrome DevTools Protocol plugin for browser automation:
sudo dpkg -i amber-plugin-cdp_0.5.8_amd64.deb
